Geocoding for Additional Place of Business under GST

The GSTN has announced that the new geocoding capabilities for additional business addresses are now available in all States and Union Territories.

This enhances the geocoding capabilities previously implemented for the primary location, which have been operative since February 2023. The GST Department has released a concise guide on the geo coding procedure.

How to use this feature is listed below ?

  1. Access
  2. Usage
  3. Viewing
  4. One-time Submission
  5. Eligibility

1. Access

To access this functionality, navigate to the Services >> Registration >> Geocoding Business Addresses tab on the FO portal.

2. Usage

A geocoded address generated by the system is displayed. You may approve or modify this as necessary. If a system-generated address is not available, you can manually input the geocoded address.

3. Viewing

The "Geocoded Places of Business" page is where you can locate saved geocoded address information. After logging in, navigate to My Profile >> Geocoded Places of Business.

4. One-time Submission

Because this is a one-time action, a post-submission address change is not permitted. Once taxpayers' addresses have been geocoded through new registration or core amendment, they would not be required to perform this action because the GST portal would display their geocoded addresses.

Remember that only the core amendment procedure can be used to update your registration certificate's address. This geocoding function has no effect on previously saved addresses.

5. Eligibility

This service is accessible to all general composition, SEZ units, SEZ developers, ISD, and casual taxpayers, regardless of the status of their accounts (active, cancelled, or suspended).
