GST Implemented Two-factor Authentication for Taxpayers

GST Department has introduced the two factor authentication for GST login to strengthen the login security in GST portal

Latest Tax News from EZTax.in

  1. GSTN has already rolled out two factor authentication in the state of Haryana and it is working seamlessly.
  2. 1st phase of two factor authentication will be rolled out in the states of Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, rajasthan and Delhi from 01st December 2023
  3. 2nd phase of two factor authentication will be rolled out in remaining states in future
  4. The taxpayers are required to enter the OTP received on primary authorized signatory mobile number and email id after entering the login credentials
  5. This OTP will be asked only if the taxpayer changes the desktop or laptop or browser and location

This process might increase security but it will be time consuming. Particularly at the time of due dates, when the taxpayers are facing issues due to gst portal, it might pose additional problems of not getting OTP's
