Saving thousands of rupees on tax payments does not always require a dash to the tax consultant followed by a brain-storming session. A Hyderabad-based portal has shown the way how to save money, legally and quickly in the confines of one’s home.

The team behind EZTax.in has claimed that in the last 45 days, since the time it was launched, an average of Rs. 26,000 was saved on 800 Form 16 filings. Sunil Dasari, founder and MD of MYD labs, the start-up which launched the website, credited unique features in his website for getting a traction and growing at a rate of 500% monthly in terms of customer base.

"The self-service tax filing is easy when compared to other websites," said Mr. Dasari. "Our product goes beyond filing. We have introduced tax optimiser, which is a first in India. One can save money during filings by just entering the correct data. We have expert advisers and tax consultations ready to assist our customers," he said. The portal also has a system in place to alert the tax-payer to avoid a notice.
