1.What is Digital Signature certificate ?

Digital Signature Certificates (DSC) are the digital equivalent of paper or physical signs. Digital Signature certificate (DSC) is a secure and authentic way to submit a document electronically. Usage of Class II DSC has been stopped from Jan 2021 and Usage of Class 3 Digital Signature has been made mandatory for the individuals and organizations.

2.What is the Validity of Class 3 Digital Signature?

The Validity of Class 3 Digital Signature is 2-3 years. EZTax uses 2 year validity by default. The Applicant needs to renew the DSC once the validity is expired.

3.Who issues Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)?

Digital Signature Certificates (DSC’s) are issued by the certification agencies who are appointed by the office of Controller of Certification Agencies (CCA) under the provisions of IT Act, 2000.

4.Can I have 2 Digital Signatures?

Yes, you can have 2 Digital Signature Certificates on your name. But only one active DSC can be registered in portals like Income Tax.

5.How much time it will take to generate the Digital Signature?

Generally, it will take 1-2 working days to generate the Digital Signature certificate. Postal Delivery may take 2-3 postal working days after shipment.

6.Difference between Class 3 DSC vs Document Signer Certificate?

Document Signer Certificates (aka 'Doc Signer') is not a Class 3 DSC embedded in a token rather it is a signature certificate issued as a soft copy.

Doc Signer Certificate issued on your organization's name to automate signing of Invoices, Tax Documents, Form 16s, Employee Verification documents in PDF format. In addition, with the right encryption, can be used to encrypt the data to send from one computer application to another.

Class 3 DSC is sufficient for most uses in India, unless you want it to represent an Entity or Organisation.
