How to Register in Income Tax Portal ?

To Register Income Tax Portal Required Documents are:

  1. PAN Photo or Information.
  2. Present Address or Permanent Address.
  3. e-mail Id and Mobile Number.

To register in Income Tax India e-filing Portal, visit https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home and click on Register Yourself button.


Here tax payer needs to select user type depending upon Register PAN, and click continue.

For example: If the Tax payer is registering for Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) PAN, then tax payer should select the 2nd option Hindu Undivided Family (HUF).

Registration Procedure is divided into 4 steps

  1. Basic details.
  2. Registration form.
  3. Registration Verification.
  4. Registration Completed.

Step-1: Basic Details

Here Tax Payer need to enter all basic details as per your PAN card and click on continue.

Step-2: Registration Form

Registration form divided into 5 blocks.

  1. Personal Details: In this block information will automatically extracts from the Step1: Basic Details.
  2. Password Details: In this block tax payer should enter the require password to future login.
  3. Secrete Question and Answers: In this block tax payer should choose the provided secrete question write the answers for selected questions. These secrete question and answers use full to reset password at any point of time.
  4. Contact Details: In this block tax payer should give e-mail Id and mobile number, this e-mail Id and mobile number will get the OTP’. Given e-mail Id and mobile number will use full to reset the password.
  5. Address Details: In this block tax payer should provide the present or permanent address.

After filling the total form, tax payer should click on Continue, then It will pop-up a window, it will ask the tax payer confirmation to receive the OTP’s given e-mail id and mobile number, If the given e-mail and mobile number are correct then tax payer should click on Confirm or else click on Back.

Step 3: Registration Verification

Tax Payer need to enter two OTPs received to given mobile and e-mail separately and click on Validate.

Step 4: Registration Completed

Registration is completed, go to home page or click on “click here to login” in the same page to log in to your e-filing account.

User ID is PAN and Password is what ever given at the time of registration.
