  • e-mail ID & Mobile Number of Proprietor / Partners / Directors.
  • Full Business Address with electricity bill or property tax paid receipt
  • Rental Agreement / Lease Agreement (If Rental).
  • If the place of business is owned by the relatives, NOC (No Objection Certificate) is required
  • Nature of the business & Trade name of the business.
  • List of food products manufactured or processed and Kind of business (Manufacturer, Reseller, Re packer etc)
  • Source of Water Supply (Public/Private/others/NA)
  • Whether any electric power is used in manufacturing of food items

1. What is FSSAI License?

FSSAI means Food Safety and Standard Authority of India. In short, it is called Food License. FSSAI is a statutory body established under the head Ministry of Health & Family welfare. FSSAI registration number is 14 digit identification number.

2. What are the types of FSSAI Licenses?

There are 3 types of FSSAI licenses. They are Basic Registration, State License and Central License.

  1. Basic Registration: If the annual turnover of the business is less than Rs 12 lakhs, the food business operator needs to take basic registration.
  2. State License: If the annual turnover of the business is between Rs 12 lakhs to 20 crores, the food business operator needs to take State license.
  3. Central License: If the annual turnover of the business is more than 20 crores, the food business operator needs to take Central license.
3. I am doing different kinds of food business activities at the same premise. Do I need to take multiple licenses?

FSSAI License is based on premise. Doing different kinds of food business activities on the same premise requires single license.

4. When do I need to file for renewal of FSSAI registration certificate?

Renewal of FSSAI license can be done as early as 180 days prior to expiry date of registration certificate.

5. What is the Government fees for FSSAI license?

Government fees for basic FSSAI registration is Rs 100 per year and for state and central license, the government fees varies from Rs 2000 to 7500.
