Important Notes

  • This calculator estimates tax using the information entered. It does not independently verify RCM applicability, place of supply, or ITC eligibility. It includes a GTA rate check; other category rates require confirmation.
  • Potential ITC is subject to payment and applicable eligibility conditions. It is not deducted from the RCM cash-payment requirement.
  • The cash-payment requirement represents the amount payable through the electronic cash ledger, not the additional deposit required. Existing cash-ledger balances are not considered.
  • Compensation cess, interest, penalties, imported goods, special valuation rules, and return-level rounding adjustments are outside the scope of this calculation.
  • Amounts are displayed to two decimal places. A one-paisa balancing adjustment may appear between the two intra-State tax components.

This is an illustrative estimate, not a confirmation of RCM applicability or ITC eligibility.

Frequently asked Questions

1.What is the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) under GST?

Under RCM, the recipient of specified goods or services pays GST instead of the supplier. It applies only when the relevant legal provisions and notification conditions are satisfied.

ℹ️ Refer @ Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) under GST - Explained for more information.

2.What does the EZTax RCM Calculator calculate?

The calculator estimates total RCM tax, the CGST and SGST/UTGST or IGST breakup, cash-payment requirement, potential eligible Input Tax Credit (ITC), and estimated non-creditable tax based on your inputs.

3.Does every purchase from an unregistered supplier attract RCM?

No. Purchases from unregistered suppliers do not automatically attract RCM. Liability depends on the applicable GST provisions, notified categories, and transaction-specific conditions.

4.What taxable transaction value should I enter?

Enter the taxable value excluding GST. The calculator assumes you have already determined the correct taxable value and does not calculate special valuation adjustments.

5.How is RCM tax calculated?

RCM tax is calculated by multiplying the taxable value by the applicable GST rate.

For example, ₹50,000 at an applicable rate of 18% produces an estimated tax of ₹9,000. The calculation does not independently verify the rate or RCM applicability.

6.What GST rate does this calculator use for GTA services under RCM?

The calculator uses a total GST rate of 5% for GTA transactions confirmed as liable to RCM. Selecting GTA alone does not establish applicability; the relevant conditions, exemptions, and forward-charge position must also be checked.

7.Why does changing Supplier Registration Status not change the calculated tax?

Supplier registration status does not directly change the arithmetic when the taxable value and GST rate remain the same. However, supplier status and other transaction-specific conditions may affect whether RCM applies. Verify the applicable provisions before relying on the estimate.

8.How does the calculator estimate potential eligible ITC?

It uses your selected eligibility:

  • Fully eligible: 100% of calculated RCM tax.
  • Partially eligible: the percentage you enter.
  • Not eligible: ₹0.
  • Not determined: displays "Not determined."

The estimate does not independently confirm your legal entitlement to ITC.

9. Why is Potential ITC not deducted from the Cash Payment Requirement?

GST payable under RCM must be discharged through the electronic cash ledger and cannot be paid using the electronic credit ledger. Eligible ITC may be claimed separately after payment, subject to applicable conditions. The displayed cash payment requirement does not account for an existing cash ledger balance.

10.Can I use the calculator result directly for GST return filing?

Use the result as a supporting estimate. Before filing, verify RCM applicability, taxable value, GST rate, nature of supply, supporting documents, and ITC eligibility.

The calculator excludes interest, penalties, compensation cess, imported goods, special valuation rules, and return-level rounding adjustments.
